Insulated render for a renewed façade

At Nu-Isoleren, we install render together with external wall insulation. This gives the property a renewed, uniform façade finish while improving the thermal envelope at the same time.

For the insulation layer, we use EPS insulation boards from Hisfa nv in Hulshout. The boards are fitted to the exterior wall to create a continuous insulation layer before the reinforcement and final render system are applied.

At Nu-Isoleren, render is installed as part of an external wall insulation system. We therefore combine the new façade finish with a thermal insulation layer on the outside of the existing wall, bringing visual renovation and energy improvement together in one project.

Insulated render for a renewed façade

What is exterior render?

Exterior render is a plaster finish for external walls, available in different colours and textures. At Nu-Isoleren, render is part of a complete external wall insulation system.

The EPS insulation improves the thermal performance of the wall, while the render protects the façade and gives the property a renewed, uniform appearance.

Render is the visible finish of a complete façade system. The existing wall is first assessed and prepared, then the insulation and reinforced base layers are installed before the final decorative finish. The quality of the underlying layers and junction details is essential for long-term performance.

Exterior render with wall insulation

Nu-Isoleren installs render together with external wall insulation. A continuous layer of EPS insulation boards is first fitted to the exterior wall, followed by the reinforcement system, base coats and final render finish.

This build-up combines façade renovation with thermal insulation without reducing the interior living space.

Benefits of exterior render

Insulated exterior render combines a renewed façade finish with a continuous insulation layer fitted to the outside of the property.

Insulated render addresses two renovation goals at the same time: improving the thermal performance of the external wall and completely renewing the appearance of the façade. Because the insulation is applied externally, internal floor area is preserved and many thermal-bridge-sensitive junctions can be incorporated more effectively.

  • Thermal insulation of the exterior walls
  • Clean, uniform façade finish
  • Wide choice of colours and textures
  • Continuous EPS insulation layer on the exterior

Render with Hisfa EPS insulation boards

For external wall insulation behind render, Nu-Isoleren uses EPS insulation boards from Hisfa nv in Hulshout. The boards form a continuous exterior insulation layer before the complete render system is applied.

Render colours and façade finish

The final look depends on colour, texture and façade detailing. The chosen finish should work together with windows, plinths, sills and roof edges.

A rendered façade does not require complicated maintenance, but dirt, algae and local damage should be dealt with in time. Cleaning methods must be appropriate for the finish, as excessive pressure or unsuitable products can damage the surface.

Is your façade suitable for render?

The substrate must be stable. Cracks, loose areas, moisture problems and poor pointing should be assessed first.

With external insulation, detailing around windows, doors, roof edges and plinths is especially important.

The substrate must be stable. Cracks, loose areas, penetrating moisture and defective details need to be assessed before installation. Windows, sills, roof edges, plinths and junctions with other façade materials must also be integrated correctly into the system.

How is render installed?

External wall insulation is the standard basis of our render system. We build up the façade step by step, from preparation and EPS insulation to reinforcement and final finishing.

After preparation, the Hisfa EPS boards are fixed according to the selected system. The base coat, reinforcement and additional system layers are then applied before the final render. Junctions around openings and edges receive particular attention.

01

Prepare the façade

We inspect and prepare the substrate.

02

Install Hisfa EPS insulation

We carefully fit the EPS insulation boards to the exterior wall to create a continuous insulation layer.

03

Apply base and reinforcement layers

The reinforced base system is built according to the chosen solution.

04

Apply render finish

The façade receives its final finish.

Maintaining a rendered façade

Render is exposed to dirt, moss and algae. Suitable maintenance and cleaning help preserve the finish. Cleaning should be matched to the system to avoid damage.

How much does insulated exterior render cost?

The price of insulated exterior render depends on the façade area, substrate condition, accessibility, insulation thickness, connection details and chosen render finish.

Because every façade is different, we prepare a quotation based on the property and the complete insulation and façade system.

Cost depends on façade area, insulation thickness, substrate condition, accessibility, window and sill detailing and the selected finish. Because this is a complete façade system, a generic price per square metre is only indicative. Request a free quotation for a project-specific calculation.

Grants for external wall insulation with render

Because our render work includes external wall insulation, grants or support for façade insulation may be available depending on the region, property and applicable conditions.

See our grants section for current information.

Because Nu-Isoleren installs render together with external wall insulation, insulation grants may be relevant depending on the region. Conditions change over time, so consult our grants page.

Why combine render with external wall insulation?

At Nu-Isoleren, render is installed together with external wall insulation. This gives the property a completely renewed façade while also improving the thermal envelope, without sacrificing living space inside the home.

Which insulation does Nu-Isoleren use behind render?

For our externally insulated rendered façades, we use EPS insulation boards. The insulation, façade system and rendered finish work together as one complete solution, combining insulation and façade renovation.
