FAÇADE CLEANING

Professional façade cleaning

Weather, pollution, moss, algae and other deposits can discolour a façade over time. With an appropriate cleaning method, the original appearance can often be largely restored.

A façade is exposed for years to rain, dust, traffic pollution, moss and algae. Soiling is not only cosmetic; deposits can also hide small defects. We therefore assess the wall material, pointing and existing finishes before selecting a cleaning method.

Professional façade cleaning

Why have your façade cleaned?

Dirt affects appearance and can retain moisture. Proper cleaning also makes it easier to assess the actual condition of the façade.

Professional façade cleaning can reveal the original appearance of brick or stone again and often provides a good preparation for repairs or hydrophobic treatment. The aim is to clean effectively without unnecessarily damaging the substrate.

What types of dirt can we treat?

Depending on the substrate, atmospheric pollution, algae, moss, soot and general staining can be addressed.

The right cleaning method for each façade

Not every façade can be cleaned in the same way. The substrate, pointing and type of contamination determine which method is suitable.

Not every façade can tolerate the same pressure, temperature or cleaning products. Older or softer brickwork, weakened joints and porous finishes require a gentler approach. We therefore select the method according to the actual façade.

Can every façade be cleaned?

Not every substrate tolerates the same method. Damaged pointing, porous materials and sensitive finishes require a tailored approach.

Façade cleaning as part of renovation

Cleaning can be a stand-alone service or the first step in broader façade renovation. Once clean, cracks, pointing defects and damage are easier to assess.

Combine cleaning with hydrofuge

After cleaning, a suitable mineral façade can sometimes receive a water-repellent hydrofuge treatment. Read more on our hydrofuge page.

After cleaning, a suitable mineral façade can in some cases be protected with a hydrophobic treatment. A clean substrate helps the impregnation penetrate more evenly. Cleaning and hydrofuge are separate steps and are only combined where technically appropriate.

How does façade cleaning work?

We adapt the method to the substrate.

We begin with a visual assessment and then choose the most appropriate technique. During the work we monitor both cleaning performance and the response of the substrate. Afterwards we can assess whether repairs or an additional protective treatment would be useful.

01

Inspect the façade

We assess materials, joints and contamination.

02

Select the method

The technique and intensity are matched to the substrate.

03

Clean the façade

Contamination is removed systematically.

04

Final assessment

We evaluate whether repairs or further treatment are useful.

How much does façade cleaning cost?

Price depends on area, accessibility, material, contamination level and cleaning method.

Cost depends on area, level of contamination, façade material, cleaning method, height and accessibility. Scaffolding and repair work can also influence the final price. Request a free quotation for a project-specific estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about pricing, cleaning methods, sensitive substrates and hydrofuge.

How do I know which cleaning method my façade needs?

Not every façade should be cleaned in the same way. Nu-Isoleren examines the façade material, type of contamination and condition of the surface before choosing an appropriate cleaning method.

Can my façade be protected after cleaning?

Yes. Where the façade is suitable, cleaning can be followed by a water-repellent treatment. The surface is first cleaned and prepared before the protective treatment is applied.
