Cavity Wall Insulation in Zaffelare with Isomo EPS Beads
Nu-Isoleren.be completed a cavity wall insulation project in Zaffelare, Lochristi, using EPS beads from Belgian manufacturer Isomo nv. A practical way to reduce heat loss while preserving the home's original brick facade.

Over dit project
A familiar brick facade, with a valuable improvement behind it
In Zaffelare, a village within Lochristi in East Flanders, Nu-Isoleren.be completed a cavity wall insulation project using high-quality EPS beads from Belgian manufacturer Isomo nv.
The area around Zaffelare and Lochristi is home to many properties with traditional brick exteriors. However, what lies behind those walls matters just as much as their appearance.
An empty or poorly insulated cavity wall can allow unnecessary heat to escape, especially during the colder months.
Fortunately, improving insulation does not always require a complete facade renovation.
How did we insulate the cavity walls?
For this project, we used expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads, a lightweight insulation material with good thermal properties.
The beads are injected through small openings in the mortar joints of the exterior wall. Combined with a bonding agent, they form a stable insulating layer within the cavity.
This helps reduce heat loss through the external walls and can contribute to improved indoor comfort.
The main advantage? Better insulation behind the existing facade, without significantly changing the home's original appearance.
Cavity wall insulation around Lochristi and Ghent
Our project in Zaffelare illustrates how existing homes can benefit from cavity wall insulation. The same approach may be suitable for properties in Zeveneken, Beervelde, Wachtebeke and the wider Ghent region.
However, not every cavity wall can be insulated in the same way. The width and condition of the cavity, existing insulation and masonry must first be assessed.
