Walloon renovation support changes on 1 October 2026
In September 2026, two different systems need to be distinguished. Which scheme applies depends on when the renovation project and application take place.
Primes Habitation 2025-2026
The temporary grant scheme remains applicable until 30 September 2026 inclusive. The grant application, including the final invoice, must be submitted no later than that date.
New renovation support scheme
Regional support will shift to Rénopack and Rénoprêt. The system will target energy-intensive homes where renovation results in a sufficient improvement of the PEB energy rating.
The per-square-metre amounts below apply only to the temporary scheme ending on 30 September 2026 and should not be treated as grant amounts under the new scheme.
How much is the current insulation grant in Wallonia?
Under the temporary scheme, a base grant amount is multiplied according to household income category. The figures below cover work relevant to Nu-Isoleren's services.
| Work | R1 | R2 | R3 | R4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Roof or attic insulation | €120/m² | €80/m² | €60/m² | €40/m² |
| Thermal wall insulation | €52.80/m² | €35.20/m² | €26.40/m² | €17.60/m² |
| Treatment of rising damp | €19.20/running metre | €12.80/running metre | €9.60/running metre | €6.40/running metre |
For income categories R1 and R2, the grant is limited to a maximum of 70% of the VAT-inclusive eligible invoice amount. For R3 and R4, the maximum is 50%. Higher base amounts exist for certain bio-based insulation materials.

Who can still qualify for Primes Habitation?
The temporary scheme includes conditions relating to the applicant, the property and how the work is carried out.
The property must be located in the Walloon Region, outside the territory of the German-speaking Community.
The building must be more than 15 years old.
More than 50% of the building must be or become residential.
The work must be carried out by a contractor registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises and, where required, holding the necessary professional access.
A prior Housing Audit is required for most renovation work. It is not mandatory for roof work or thermal insulation of the roof or attic.
How will the new Walloon renovation scheme work?
From 1 October 2026, support will focus on homes with poor energy performance. The renovation project must result in a sufficient improvement in the property's PEB rating.
The renovation must improve the property to at least PEB rating D.
The renovation must improve the property to at least PEB rating C.
A prior audit will be mandatory to access the new financing. Support will be calculated across the overall renovation project rather than separately for each type of insulation work.
What financial support applies from October 2026?
Walloon support will be structured around two renovation loans. Household income category determines which financing system and repayment reduction applies.
| Category | Reference income | Financing | Repayment reduction |
|---|---|---|---|
| C1 | Up to €28,900 | 0% Rénopack | 50% |
| C2 | €28,900.01 – €41,100 | 0% Rénopack | 40% |
| C3 | €41,100.01 – €67,100 | 0% Rénopack | 15% |
| C4 | €67,100.01 – €122,800 | Preferential-rate Rénoprêt | 0% |
Rénopack
For C1, C2 and C3 households. It is a zero-interest renovation loan combined with a reduction in the amount that ultimately has to be repaid.
Rénoprêt
For C4 households, landlord-owners and associations of co-owners. The interest rate depends on the applicable conditions and is preferential compared with normal market financing.
For a single-family home, financing may reach €75,000. According to the Walloon authorities, the official reduction percentages for C1, C2 and C3 include the possible 5% increase for the use of eco-materials. Income thresholds are indexed as of 1 January 2026.
Which procedure applies to your renovation?
Because the scheme changes on 1 October 2026, the first step is to determine which system your renovation project falls under.
Until 30 September 2026
Applications under the temporary Primes Habitation scheme must be submitted by 30 September 2026 at the latest, including the final invoice. Applications can be made through Mon Espace or using the official forms.
From 1 October 2026
New projects will fall under the Rénopack and Rénoprêt system. A prior audit will be mandatory and the overall project must meet the applicable PEB improvement and financing conditions.
